Phú Quốc is a large Vietnamese island off the coast of Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand. The island is famous for its fish sauce, pepper, seafood, white sand beaches, and 5 star luxury accommodation. More than fifty percent of the island’s landmass is part of a national park, a UNESCO Biosphere protected area, featuring lush jungles, rugged mountains, and plethora of wildlife.

Phu Quoc Island is Vietnam’s largest island and it is transforming to become Asia’s next hot tropical island tourist destination. Current the island has a theme park, zoo, numerous 5 star resorts, and there are plans for a grand casino in the works. Back in 1907 things were a lot different. Here are some images of what Phu Quoc use to look like a long time ago, before mass tourism and all the great wars, including the Vietnam War.
